What’s new in the 2012 release

Releases can introduce new features and enhancements or update platform support.

Note: The product name for McAfee DLP Endpoint for Mac for use with MVISION ePO is now referred to as McAfee® MVISION Data Loss Prevention Endpoint for Mac (McAfee MVISION DLP Endpoint for Mac).

Enhancements

This release introduces new features or improves existing features:

DLP Getting Started feature

DLP Getting Started helps you configure your product quickly and helps protect your data immediately post-installation. Use this feature to add shared location details, and create your first rule and policy.

Classification Tester

You can now verify if a phrase or file is triggered with your classifications by running the Classification Tester. A new Classification Tester tab is added to the Classification page.

Classification usage

You can now check which rules are using a specific classification in the new Classification Usage window in the Classification page.

Classification groups

New built-in classification groups for Finance, IT Security, Healthcare, and more, provide logical groupings for built-in classifications, and are now available in the Classifications List. You can also create your own classification groups.

Updated platform, environment, or operating system support

This release extends support to additional platforms, environments, or operating systems:

  • macOS Big Sur
    Note: Plug-and-play devices can be only monitored when using macOS Big Sur.

McAfee is working toward feature parity with the on-premises McAfee DLP Endpoint product. The following options are not available in the 2012 release:

  • McAfee® Threat Intelligence Exchange (TIE) integration reporting application reputation based on SHA-256 in addition to SHA-1 and MD5.
  • Controlled obfuscation with permission sets.
  • Increased limits when updating multiple incidents in the incident management workspace.
  • Create a device template from an incident.
  • Allow an administrator to define and use custom incident status and resolution.
  • Add comments to an incident.
  • Customize incident column view, and save current incident filter.
  • Incident tasks
  • Incident Audit Log
  • DLP Case Management
  • DLP Operations
  • Advanced role-based access control, including dynamic permissions and access-control lists.
  • Tracking a user log-on against a single endpoint via the System Tree.
  • Support for on-premises RMS and Seclore in MVISION ePO.

Release version
