What's new

The current release of the product includes these new features for Multi-Platform deployment.

Simplified deployment process

In this release, the deployment process for Multi-Platform is simplified by automating the deployment of SVM Manager, SVM, and clients. It reduces the manual clicks by 70% as compared to the previous versions.

Meta Package for installing all required product files on McAfee ePO

This release supports installation of all required product files using a single Meta Package extension.

Installing the Meta Package extension on the McAfee ePO server:

  • Installs Data Center Connector
  • Installs vSphere Connector
  • Installs McAfee MOVE AntiVirus specific extensions:
    • MOVE AntiVirus
    • MOVE AntiVirus Common
    • Product Help extension
  • Checks in the McAfee MOVE AntiVirus SVM, Client, and SVM Manager Debian packages to the Master Repository

SVM Manager deployment using McAfee ePO

The SVM Manager deployment requirements and process are simplified. You can check in the SVM Manager OVF package to the McAfee ePO server and then deploy it to the hypervisor using McAfee ePO. For details, see McAfee MOVE AntiVirus 4.6.0 Installation Guide.

SVM Manager upgrade using McAfee ePO

The SVM Manager upgrade requirements and process are simplified. You can upgrade your SVM Manager version 4.0.0 or 4.5.0 to 4.6.0 using McAfee ePO. For details, see McAfee MOVE AntiVirus 4.6.0 Installation Guide.

McAfee MOVE AntiVirus client deployment using McAfee ePO

The McAfee MOVE AntiVirus client deployment requirements and process are simplified. For details, see McAfee MOVE AntiVirus 4.6.0 Installation Guide.

VirusScan Enterprise for Linux to Endpoint Security for Linux Threat Prevention migration

The SVM Manager is a dedicated virtual appliance installed with VirusScan Enterprise for Linux. In this release, VirusScan Enterprise for Linux in SVM Manager is replaced with Endpoint Security for Linux Threat Prevention.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) upgrade

The TLS, which is part of the SVM Manager, SVM, and client packages, is upgraded to version 1.2.

Note: The SVM Manager 4.6.0 can communicate with previous versions of SVMs and clients with TLS 1.x.

Exporting an SVM OVF template for SVM autoscaling

The process for exporting an SVM OVF template is simplified. You can export a template from an existing SVM system or create an SVM and export it using McAfee ePO. For details, see McAfee MOVE AntiVirus 4.6.0 Installation Guide.

McAfee Agent upgrade

The McAfee Agent, which is part of the SVM Manager OVF package, is upgraded to version 5.0.5.

Change in flow for determining the reputation for TIE 2.0.0

The flow for determining the reputation value is changed for TIE 2.0.0. When the SVM sends a signed file for certificate lookup and this certificate has a file that has administrator overridden file reputation, the file hash is sent for file reputation lookup again ignoring its certificate reputation.

Error codes for troubleshooting

Some error codes and strings are added to the errors that you might see while managing the McAfee MOVE AntiVirus (Multi-Platform) product. You might see these errors on the Queries & Reports (MOVE AntiVirus: Error Code Details or MP Connectivity Details) in McAfee ePO or in the log files. These error codes are documented in McAfee MOVE AntiVirus 4.6.0 Product Guide.

  • Check SVM Assignment
  • Check SVM Connectivity
  • Check SVM Manager Connectivity
  • Perform EICAR Test
