What's new in the 1910 release

Releases can introduce new features and enhancements or update platform support.

New features

This release introduces new features or improves existing features:

  • Support for McAfee® MVISION ePO — You can now manage and deploy McAfee® Management of Native Encryption (MNE) to all client systems from McAfee® MVISION ePO.
  • Support for MNE 5.0.x — This release supports all existing features of MNE 5.0.x except for McAfee preboot, automatic network unlock, and Data Protection Self Service Portal.
  • Support for using your own master key — You can use your own Customer Master Key (CMK) created on AWS to protect your data using the tenant key service on MVISION ePO. Using your own CMK gives you more control in keeping your data secure.
  • Support for migration — You can migrate MNE from McAfee ePO to MVISION ePO.

For more information about migrating to MVISION ePO, see the McAfee Management of Native Encryption Product Guide for use with MVISION ePO.

Updated platform, environment, or operating system support

You can get the latest information about supported platforms, environments, and operating systems from KB91980.

For MNE systems with McAfee® Agent 5.6.2 or later, the minimum supported macOS version is Mojave 10.14.

Unsupported features

The McAfee preboot, automatic network unlock, and Data Protection Self Service Portal features that are available with MNE 5.0.x for McAfee® ePolicy Orchestrator® (McAfee® ePO™) are not supported in this release for the MVISION ePO platform.

Release version

This release of MNE for the MVISION ePO platform is identified as version 1910, where the version identifier follows a yymm convention. For more information about using MNE managed from MVISION ePO, see the McAfee Management of Native Encryption Product Guide for use with MVISION ePO.

The documentation and product version of MNE on McAfee ePO is identified as version 5.0.x.

The endpoint (client) version of MNE remains as 5.0.x irrespective of the management platform in use. Both McAfee ePO and MVISION ePO uses the same client package. This eases the process of migrating from McAfee ePO to MVISION ePO management of endpoints with MNE already installed.
