Application-based Protection

You can configure encryption policy settings for applications based on their process names on the Application-based Protection policy page.

Option Definition
Add Click Add/+ to specify the process and the file extensions to be encrypted.
Process Name Specify the process name of the application.

You can specify the process name as it appears in the Windows process explorer to encrypt files created by the application, for example, notepad.exe or test.exe.

You can also specify the process name without a suffix, for example, .exe or .com, using just notepad or test.

Extensions Specify the file extensions to be encrypted, such as 'txt', 'doc', that are supported by the process. You can specify multiple file extensions using a space, semi-colon, or colon as separators.
Action Specify the encryption key to be assigned to the policy. Browse to select the key.
