What's new in the 2.4 release

Releases can introduce new features and enhancements or update platform support.

McAfee® Endpoint Upgrade Assistant is a tool designed to help you analyze upgrade requirements in your environment, then prepare and deploy your McAfee® Endpoint Security upgrade.

This release was developed for use with:

  • McAfee® ePolicy Orchestrator® (McAfee® ePO™) 5.1.2 or later
  • McAfee Endpoint Security 10.5.3–10.6.1
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2019
  • Windows 7 SP1 (see note) to the Windows 10 19H1 Update (April, 2019)
  • Third-party deployment tools
Note: On systems running Windows 7, you need to apply Windows Update KB3033929 before using Endpoint Upgrade Assistant to upgrade product software. Windows Update KB3033929 adds the required SHA256 certificate support to Windows 7.

New features

This release introduces new features or improves existing features:

  • Support for McAfee ePO permissions — Features for analyzing your environment and deploying upgrades now require some McAfee ePO permissions for full functionality.
  • Support for Endpoint Security updates — You can install selected product updates during upgrades to Endpoint Security 10.6.1 using Upgrade Automation. Package Creator supports updates for Endpoint Security 10.5.3 or later.
    Note: You can install a product update only when upgrading to Endpoint Security 10.6.1. You can't use Endpoint Upgrade Assistant to install a monthly update on endpoints that are already running Endpoint Security 10.6.1.
  • Support for McAfee® Application Control and McAfee® Change Control — You can install or upgrade to version 7.0 or later of these products using Upgrade Automation or Package Creator.
  • Support for McAfee® Agent command-line options — You can enter a subset of McAfee Agent command-line options when creating Upgrade Automation deployment tasks or creating custom installers with Package Creator.
  • Package Creator enhancements — You can now include the product installers for monthly updates and for McAfee Application Control McAfee Change Control in your custom client installers. In addition, a new Advanced mode lets you enter McAfee Agent command-line options and check in multiple custom client installers.
