Reference Resolution
ENSM-708 When upgrading from Endpoint Security for Mac 10.2.x or 10.5.x on systems that are not managed by Mobile Device Management (MDM), attempt to load the com.McAfee.FileCore kext module happens only after the upgrade.
ENSM-723 Reasons for Endpoint Security for Mac deployment failures are now reported as client events to McAfee ePO.

The reason could be for one of the following cases, if

  • The installer detects an unsupported McAfee Agent version.
  • The installer detects the user name “Virex” in the system.
  • The com.McAfee.FMPSysCore kernel extension fails to unload during the installation.
  • The com.McAfee.mfeaac kernel extension fails to unload during the installation.
  • The McAfee common process does not stop during the installation.
  • Threat Prevention is not detected on the system during the installation of Adaptive Threat Protection.
  • An unsupported Threat Prevention version is detected during the installation of Adaptive Threat Protection.
  • The license file creation fails during the installation.

McAfee Endpoint Security platform properties and policies are not working for Endpoint Security for Mac 10.6.x, if Endpoint Security Platform extension (build number 10.6.1.1105) is upgraded in the following flow in McAfee ePO.

  • Endpoint Security 10.6.1 RTW (10.6.1.1033) -> Endpoint Security 10.6.1 Update (10.6.1.1059) -> Endpoint Security 10.6.1 Update (10.6.1.1105)

This issue is resolved in the Endpoint Security Platform update Extension 10.6.1.1146.
