Using application-specific Firewall rules

You can create Firewall rules to restrict network traffic for applications. By configuring this option, you can set full or restricted network access for applications.

You can control network connection for applications by specifying the application path or by selecting the application bundle in the Firewall rule. For example, to allow only a specific browser application to access web sites, create an allow rule of the browser application and move it to the top of the rule list.

For few applications, the network traffic is handled by the system framework or daemon process. To find out the applications responsible for handling the network traffic, run Firewall in Adaptive mode to identify the rules required to control the traffic for applications. The Adaptive rules created by Firewall contain the application path.
