Proxy Servers reference

Specify the list of proxy servers for McAfee Client Proxy to redirect network traffic.

Table 1: Option definitions
Option Definition
Add Adds the new proxy server address and port information to the Proxy Server List.
Bypass proxy server for local addresses When selected, bypasses the client configuration for private networks.

IP ranges include:

  • 10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255
  • 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255
  • 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255

Tip: Use this option to allow only McAfee WGCS to enforce policies.

Cancel Closes the policy server definition without saving.
connect to the first accessible Proxy Server based on their order in the list below When selected, Client Proxy connects to proxy servers based on the order of the Proxy Server List.
Note: Since Client Proxy connects to proxy servers based on the order of the Proxy Server List, place the preferred server first on the list.
connect to the Proxy Server which has the fastest response time When selected, Client Proxy connects to the closest proxy server based on the shortest proxy server response time.
Edit Enables modification capabilities to the proxy server fields.

Delete Removes the proxy server definition.

HTTP/HTTPS When selected, HTTP/HTTPS requests are directed to the configured Web Gateway appliance or McAfee WGCS.
Non-HTTP/HTTPS Redirected Ports Specifies the non-HTTP/HTTPS redirected ports specified in the policy.
Proxy Port Specifies the port number on the proxy server.
Tip: Ports 80 and 443 are always handled as HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
Proxy Server Address Specifies the IP address or host name of the proxy server.
Save Saves and closes the proxy server definition.
Specify additional ports that you would like to redirect as HTTP/HTTPS traffic Specifies any additional proxy server ports that you would like to redirect as HTTP/HTTPS traffic.
Note: This list applies to all applications, not just browsers.
