Install using third-party deployment methods

Installing the agent using third-party deployment methods requires an installation package created for that environment.

Before you begin

The agent extension must be installed on McAfee ePO and appropriate agent packages must be added to the Master Repository.

  1. Create an installation package.
    1. Select MenuSystemsSystem Tree, then select New Systems.
    2. Select Create and download agent installation package.
    3. Select the appropriate Agent version.
    4. Deselect Embed Credentials in Package to receive the default package. Otherwise, specify the required credentials.
    5. If you want the deployment to use a specific Agent Handler, select it from the drop-down list. If not, select All Agent Handlers.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select FramePkg.exe and save it to the desktop.
  2. To embed credentials on systems not belonging to a domain, change the local security policy on the target systems.
    1. Log on to the target system using an account with local administrator rights.
    2. From the command line, run SECPOL.MSC to open the Local Security Settings dialog box.
    3. In the System Tree under Security SettingsLocal Policies, select User Rights Assignment.
    4. In the Policy column of the details pane, double-click Impersonate a client after authentication to open the Local Security Policy Setting dialog box.
    5. Click Add User or Group to open the Select Users or Groups dialog box.
    6. Select the user or group that the user is likely to run as, then click Add.
    7. Click Add.

You are now ready to use your third-party software to distribute the installation package, FramePkg.exe.
Note: By default User Access Control is enabled on Windows Vista and later operating systems. The administrator must add permission to the user or turn off User Access Control to install the agent manually on client systems.
