Migration overview The McAfee® Advanced Threat Defense 4.2 is optimized for improved performance and enhanced security through kernel and RPM file changes. This migration guide helps you upgrade your McAfee® Advanced Threat Defense Appliance software, both physical and virtual, to 4.2. Upgrading to Advanced Threat Defense 4.2 is different from the previous Advanced Threat Defense upgrades. For this release, you are migrating your physical or virtual appliance because as part of the process, the operating system (OS) of your appliance is upgraded along with the Advanced Threat Defense software. During the migration process, all your data and configurations are backed up, followed by OS installation, data restoration, and installation of the Advanced Threat Defense 4.2 software. What are backed up during the migration process?During migration, all data present in your existing Advanced Threat Defense appliance is backed up. After data back up, the installer automatically installs the OS, restores the backed up data, and installs Advanced Threat Defense 4.2 software.
